I’ll spare you the joke about my party wall and get straight to the point of this post: Foam.
Foam is nice, in moderation. It’s quite nice when recycled, such as this batch of expanded polystyrene (photo above) from Insulation Depot that was installed between 6 Linwood and yours truly. It’s very nice underground, where moisture would render any other insulation useless. It gets downright exciting in wintertime, when used as floatation thingies in frigid waters. However, when it comes to global warming impact it’s not very nice at all.
That’s why this building will not have any of it where it doesn’t have to go. For everything but sub-slab applications, recycled newsprint will be the insulation of choice.
